Warning: Counterfeit versions of the medicinal product Tertensif® found in Bulgaria

Counterfeit versions of the medicinal product Tertensif® (indapamide) 1.5 mg enteric-coated tablets have been found at pharmacies and distributors on the Bulgarian market.

The counterfeit medicinal product, Tertensif® (indapamide), 1.5 mg enteric-coated tablets, is sold in a package containing 30 enteric-coated tablets. The following is printed on the packages:

The packages are counterfeit, and thus they are neither manufactured nor marketed by the company that manufactures the original medicinal product. The outer packaging and package leaflet of the counterfeit medicinal product is different from that of the original medicinal product.

The counterfeit medicinal product has not been distributed to Denmark . However, the Danish Medicines Agency cannot rule out that private individuals may be able to buy the medicinal product in another way, for instance over the Internet or by private import from a pharmacy in Bulgaria .

Persons who have taken the tablets are advised to stop taking them and to possibly contact their general practitioner.

The Danish Medicines Agency furthermore encourages people having bought the counterfeit medicinal product to return it to a pharmacy.
