Vaccination is one of the most efficient disease prevention methods available.

Diseases such as polio, measles, and diphtheria have been eradicated in Denmark; but not worldwide. High vaccination coverage remains essential to keep these diseases out of the country.
In Denmark, vaccinations for all citizens under the age of 18 and all people in risk groups are free of charge.

The Danish Childhood Vaccination Programme

Protects your child against serious diseases that may cause permanent injury and, in the worst case, be fatal. Learn more in:

The Danish Childhood Vaccination Programme

(Also available in Arabic, Farsi, Polish and Somali via this page).

HPV vaccination

The vaccine is included in the Danish Childhood Immunisation Programme and protects against the two most common types of HPV virus, which cause over 70% of cases of cervical cancer.

MMR vaccination

The MMR vaccine is part of the Danish Childhood Vaccination Programme and protects against the diseases measles, mumps and rubella.

MMR vaccination for adults
Cases of measles, mumps and rubella still occur frequently in many places around the world. This means that there is a risk of infection during travel. You only have to get vaccinated once, so make sure you are protected before international travel.

Almost all Danish citizens who were born in Denmark before 1974 have had measles. The MMR vaccine was added to the Danish vaccination programme in 1987. If you were born outside Denmark and have not previously been vaccinated, we recommend you to consult your doctor about whether you should get the MMR vaccine.

Free vaccination against hepatitis for high-risk groups

The offer of free vaccination is significant in the testing of immigrants from areas with a high incidence of HBV infection and for the general screening of pregnant women for HBV infection. Vaccination with combined hepatitis A + B vaccine is recommended for children and young people below the age of 18 who are children of immigrants from areas with a high incidence of both hepatitis A and hepatitis B.
