Responsibilities and tasks

The Danish Health Authority is responsible for advising and supporting the general population, the Ministry of Health, the regions and the municipalities on health issues, and for ensuring the best possible quality of healthcare and elderly care across the country

We disseminate knowledge of how our lifestyle choices affect our health. We control and manage infectious diseases and ensure effective health emergency management.

We develop educational programmes for healthcare professionals, establish guidelines for appropriate use of medicines and develop national plans in areas such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes and chronic diseases.
