Approval and registration of foreign specialist education
It is possible to have your foreign specialist education registered in the Danish authorization register. You can read more about how to apply here.
To have your foreign specialist education approved in Denmark, you need a Danish authorization. You can read more about how to obtain Danish authorization at the Danish Patient Safety Authority.
When you apply for registration of your foreign specialist education in the Danish authorization register, you must specify which Danish specialist education you are applying for. In addition, you must attach the following documentation:
- A justified application containing information about your nationality and in which country the education was completed.
- A CV highlighting relevant experience related to the specialist education.
- Documentation from place(s) of employment stating job responsibilities and patient demographics related to the specialist education.
- Danish nursing authorization with authorization number in the Danish authorization register.
- Documentation of specialist education, as well as relevant courses/training that include elements comparable to the theory and practice in the educational curriculum of the specific specialist education.
- Educational curriculum or similar documentation for the relevant education (translated into either Danish or English).
The application should be sent directly to the relevant specialist education council, which will process the application. You can find an overview of the contact information for the specialist education councils here:

The Specialist Education Council will assess whether your education corresponds to the Danish specialist education according to the regulations and educational curriculum for the program. Additional information for the assessment of the application may be requested.
The processing time is expected to be 3 months.
An application can either be approved (full credit), partially approved (partial credit), or result in a rejection. In the case of partial approval, the decision letter will specify which additional competences must be acquired in order to be registered with the specialist education.
